About

My name is Manuel Flores Zavala and I am from Tarija, Bolivia. I have been playing racquetball for over 14 years. I have won several National Championships in Bolivia and I have coached many junior players that are World Champions. Currently I am AMPRO-IPRO (I.R.F) certificated and I can teach racquetball around the world. Currently, I’m based in Denver, Colorado and traveling throughout the U.S playing on the I.R.T Pro Tour.

I have over 8 years of coaching racquetball experience teaching and young players in Bolivia and around the world. I have a knack for discovering new, talented players and they quickly realize that as a coach I have patience, dedication andfocus on individual hard work.

Rocio Cuenca was my first successful student. She played in Tempe, Arizona and won medals at the Wold Junior Championships in 2006. Another student, Ernesto Ruiz is quite talented and has a great deal of potential.

Jorge Luis Michel is probably my top student. He played in many South American tournaments and also won the World Junior Championships in doubles 16’s division in 2007 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Currently he is part of the Bolivian National team and is the Panamerican finalist in Cali Colombia 2009.

Fabian Gutierrez is another promising player in the Bolivian racquetball world. He went to Costa Rica and played in the boy’s 14’s division. He continues his training and improves his racquetball skills daily. His brother Franco went to Costa Rica too and played really well with good results. Franco also won first place in the boy’s 12’s at the World Junior Championships in Cochamba, Bolivia in 2007.

My students’ success is the result of hard work and training in the areas of physical and technical conditioning. I continue to stay on top of the latest racquetball training in Denver, Colorado. I’ve learned a great deal from my mentors Jo Shattuck and Jim Winterton.

I’m still studying the mechanics and movements of the most successful players in the world like Kane Waselenchuck and Rondha Rajsich. Again, I like to emphasize strategies in shot selection and footwork in my coaching and pass on all that I’ve learned and observed throughout my career as a professional racquetball player and coach.
